Access Information: Trails in the Mill Creek Canyon are closed to bikes on odd-numbered days. Dogs are allowed year-round, but must be leashed on even-numbered days. Dogs can be off leash on odd-numbered days. This is a well maintained trail which climbs by switchback to a viewpoint overlooking Salt Lake City. This section continues up to the Porter Fork pass just below the Porter Fork Trail Junction. The full Desolation Trail trail then continues a total of 18 miles and crosses into Big Cottonwood Canyon along Raymond Ridge to Desolation Lake. Dogs are allowed off leash on odd numbered days and on leash on even numbered days.
