Description Proceed cautiously on this 15.6-mile out-and-back trail near Alpine, Utah. Generally considered a highly challenging route, it should only be attempted by experienced adventurers. This is a very popular area for backpacking, camping, and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.

Notes Lone Peak is one of the most popular and sought-after summits in the Wasatch front. This route takes you to the top of this 11,000+ foot Wasatch Peak which rises above Salt Lake City. Lone Peak one of the tallest peaks in the area, and is prone to lightning strikes. During the summer months, it is especially important to keep your eye on the weather. Getting an early alpine start for your summit push, and retreating at the first sign of a storm is critical.
